–         New for 2023: As an industry leader and one of the biggest programs of its kind, TRAK implements a new strategy looking to carefully manage their popular Cadet program and continues to work hard re-establishing the Senior 2-stroke platform.

*Senior 2-stroke Platform to use Vortex VLR Power. As the Club continues to grow, it is no secret that participation levels in our fastest Senior category has been stagnant. The cost to compete is a key factor. In simple terms, TRAK Officials have evaluated trends seen across North America and have decided to follow suit adopting an engine package that reduces these costs significantly all while maintaining the fun factor associated with 2-stroke karting. Now with two years of experience utilizing the Vortex VLR package in Junior and Masters, the switch will be made creating VLR Senior. The decision wasn’t taken lightly but made for the right reasons.

  • Retail price comparison. A 30% price decrease from the Rok GP to the VLR.
  • Less moving pieces makes the package more user friendly.
  • Parity between engines a big reason for the switch across the industry.
  • Rebuild and running costs significantly cheaper.

Notes:

–         We know that with change, you always have pro’s and con’s. We are sympathetic to our current members who are impacted by this decision. For this reason, we have developed an incentive program that helps with the transition. Email daniel@goodwoodkartways.com for details.

*Briggs Cadet Race Day Format Change. There is no question that the Cadet programs at Goodwood Kartways continue to develop some of the top racers in the country. As the saying goes, ‘If you can win at Goodwood, you can win anywhere.’ As the class continues to grow, our Club maintains and understands that the ‘Rookie in 21st spot is just as important as the Championship leader who wins the race. With an average of 23 participants in the Cadet class during the 2022 season, TRAK Officials have introduced a new race day format for the Cadet class specifically. As the class continues to grow, the potential for ‘Turn-1 incidents’ as well as ‘lapped traffic interference’ increases. Managing the growth, for Club races where we have 24 Cadet entries or more the following format will be followed.

  • Session 1: Practice Session. (All karts)
  • Session 2: Qualifying. Class split up into two groups (Odds/Evens).
  • Session 3: Pre-Final ‘B’. The Bottom half of the field based on Qualifying results.
  • Session 4: Pre-Final ‘A’. The Top half of the field based on Qualifying results.
  • Session 5: Final ‘B’. Starting positions determined based on Pre-Final ‘B’ results. 1ST and 2nd place from Final ‘B’ win an automatic transfer to Final ‘A’.
  • Session 6: Final ‘A’. Starting positions determined based on Pre-Final ‘A’ results with 1st and 2ndfrom Final ‘B’ starting on the back row respectively.

Notes:

–         Trophies will be awarded to the ‘Top 3’ in both Final ‘B’ and Final ‘A’.

–         If and when we have 23 or less entries the standard format will be followed

–         Championship points will be awarded as one group. Results in Final ‘A’ get points based on their finishing position. Drivers in Final ‘B’ will be scored after all Final ‘A’ positions. Ex. 14 drivers in Final ‘A’ means that the 3rd place finisher in Final ‘B’ is scored in 15th place. 4th place in Final ‘B’ 16th place etc.
